(16 Hour Course)
Fires have drastically changed and firefighters are being exposed more violent fire behavior than ever before because of the advancements in household materials and construction. Firefighters put themselves and others at risk when they respond to these fires with the same strategies and tactics we’ve used in the past. Ventilation is just one aspect that can change the outcome of an operation. In this training series, we will take a look at ventilation as it relates to life in the 21st century. We will discuss when is it appropriate to use different ventilation techniques including: natural ventilation, positive pressure ventilation and vertical ventilation. The student will also learn the effects of improper ventilation and how it impacts firefighter safety.
